Adaptogens
Adaptogens, plants esteemed for their potential role in helping the body adapt to stress, are receiving increasing scholarly focus. Harvard Medical School Clinical Research Programs have indicated that adaptogens may affect physiological stress markers, although definitive conclusions are yet to be reached. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also noted the traditional inclusion of adaptogens in herbal medicine regimes. Studies by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) echo the potential utility of adaptogens for stress resilience. Furthermore, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has deemed some of these herbs as Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). The Mayo Clinic Research Information Center highlights adaptogens as an area of continuing clinical investigation.
